Schooling and grades are very important to my dad, he made that very apparent to us through conversations my siblings and I would have with him. I don’t like being the one to disappoint my parents so I strive to do my best, but this wasn’t always the case. A couple years ago I had a pretty big issue dealing with procrastination. Not only would I put off assignments I would put off my grades until the end of the semester and that’s when I would do all I could to raise my grade to something that would let me pass. This happened every year, I wasn’t interested in doing my classwork but I didn’t want to fail either. My parents and teachers noticed it. I started talking about my it in my Presentations Of Learning every semester as something I wanted to work on and slowly I did. Every year I got better and better at getting my work completed and turned in on time. This year during internship I got the opportunity to show myself how productive I can be with minimal supervision. Since my mentor was always really busy with her work I had to find ways to be productive on my own. It used to be that if no one was making sure I was doing my work I would get off task and do whatever I wanted but during my internship I spent all my time working even when there was no one around. I really enjoyed the work I was doing and working that whole time was a reminder that I can work past my struggle with procrastination. I always found something that I could fill my time with so I wouldn’t be sitting around doing nothing. Each day when I came in I started working on the projects that I had started or I went to help out in the front desk if they needed it. I was really happy that I found something that I enjoyed doing that made it really easy for me to do my work and to do my best.
